“Leadership is action, not position.” - Donald McGannon, Longtime media executive
Your personal and working way of life has likely been turned upside down since March 2020. Regardless of your industry, you are likely experiencing volatility and uncertainty unlike never before in your lifetime. Leadership skills will position you and your organization for success during these challenging times, and provide you with a sustainable competitive advantage.

As Donald McGannon pointed out, you do need to be in a management position to be a leader. You could be an entrepreneur trying to figure out how to get your next big idea to market, or an athlete trying to take your performance to the next level. If you are an individual contributor to your organization, leadership skills will help you stand out and demonstrate how ready you are to take on high-profile projects.
I created this newsletter to bring my leadership and professional coaching experience and resources to you. I also will highlight how experienced and trained coaches can further your and/or your organization’s success. Central to my coaching philosophy is demonstrating how anyone can, and should lead.
I specialize in leadership and resiliency coaching. These specialties not only have a place in helping senior leaders and C-suite executives, but also serve emerging leaders, entrepreneurs, professional and amateur athletes, and professionals looking to gain a competitive advantage in their chosen field. Professional Coaching can help you gain a competitive advantage!
In this space, I want to offer resources and methods to help you become the leader you were meant to be.
In this first newsletter, I'd like to introduce you to the Values Strengths and Goals or V-SAG Framework™.
Never will a simple framework help you in so many ways! If you put a lot of thought into doing this you will be rewarded with clarity. First, identify your values—we all have both core and acquired values. Second, recognize your strengths—those skills that will differentiate you from everyone else. We can, and usually do take our strengths for granted. Lastly, once you understand your values and strengths, you will be able to set value-based goals, grounded in passion and purpose. When you are clear about what these are, you will make progress toward becoming your best possible self! The bottom line, values work will give you the confidence to be a leader, whether in your own life and/or as a leader of others. A trained professional coach can guide you through this exercise and help you gain insight into yourself!
Coaching can also help you with communication and resiliency, both foundational to leadership.
Building a resilient mindset will future-proof you from setbacks and challenges. Developing a resilient mindset will help you with decision-making and creativity.
Communication is also key to leadership. If a leader cannot communicate in an emotionally intelligent way, build connections across organizational boundaries with external partners, and listen to stakeholders, they will fail to lead. A leader that communicates, builds trust.
I will discuss resiliency and communication in future newsletters and look forward to sparking conversation on the subjects!
Coaching conversations will help you master leadership skills. Coaching can also focus on building resiliency and enhancing your communication skills. How does this happen? Professional Coaches build trust with their clients, actively listen, ask powerful questions, create awareness, co-design actions with the client, and help with goal setting and managing progress.
The information I provide here and in future newsletters will provide you with the resources to succeed in your profession and be the leader your community needs you to be!
What are your thoughts? I’d love to hear them!
